FLORENCE, AL – Meteorologist, author, and podcaster James Spann will be the main event at the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering Sunseri Speaker Series on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Norton Auditorium.
“It is a pleasure to continue to elevate the guests we bring to campus as part of the Sunseri Speaker Series,” said Dr. Ryan Zayac, Dean of the College. “Mr. Spann brings a wealth of knowledge based on his many years as Alabama’s most beloved meteorologist, and we welcome his insights, anecdotes, and witticisms.”
While Mr. Spann is a famous meteorologist and media personality, as a creative, he is also known for his writing, which he ties to his vast knowledge of meteorology in his children’s book and autobiography. He is also a host for the prolific Weather Brains podcast, which has more than 1,000 episodes. Most recently, he launched the Alabama Weather Network, a 24/7 weather resource that focuses on the entire state of Alabama.
This annual Sunseri Speaker Series event is included as part of our Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Family Weekend on Saturday, October 11, from 1-2 pm, with a short reception and meet-and-greet afterward in the Norton Auditorium lobby. This event is free and open to the public. The Sunseri Speaker Series is made possible through a generous donation from Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ alumnus David Sunseri, who sponsored the series at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ to honor his late sister, Jennifer Leigh Sunseri. The annual series integrates arts and creativity with the sciences to drive innovation.
